QuestionI have a phalaenopsis already four years and every year it gets many flower bulb but nearly non get to open. They turn yellow and then fall off the stem. I like to know why and what to do so that the flowers will open.

AnswerThanks for your question Silvia. If you have not repotted your plant in the last year or two I suggest you do that. One cause of bud drop is an overly wet potting mix which can only happen if the potting mix is old. If you have not recently repotted, this should be done using the special orchid potting mix. If you are unfamiliar with how to repot an orchid, let me know and I'll walk you through the steps. There are, of course many other reasons for buds drop. A few are to dry of an atmosphere in the vicinity of the buds or temperatures which get too cool (ie below 60 degrees F or lower).
