QuestionHi,
I've been waiting for you to return from vacation! Welcome back! Thanks for the help.
I have a wonderfu orchid that has bloomed proficiently for several years even after a transplant. I have a wonderful octogon breakfast room that gets lots of light all day. The last flower spike ended and dried up. there are still healthy roots and a lot of those "fingers" branching out on top of the surface. (Can you tell I'm a novice??) Yet, the center of the plant is very hard and dried and doesn't look like it might send up another spike. What shall I do? Thank you.
AnswerJan, good to hear from you. It sounds like you have a healthy plant (ie healthy leaves and roots). It also sounds as if you haven't repotted it for several years-- which may be a problem. If you know how to repot, I suggest you to proceed. If you are unsure, let me know and I'll provide the steps that I use for repotting a phalaenopsis orchid.
