Bloom Booster

Question
Wayne,

As you may recall, I live in Orlando where the temperature has been between 75 (high) and 50 (low) degrees.

I have my orchids in the garage where they have been getting plenty of indirect sun light and been kept warm. I have been watering them once a week using 20-20-20.

My orchids (phals, cattleyas) have not shown any spikes quite yet.

Question: I am wondering if I should water them using a Bloom booster such as Better-Gro's 11-35-15?

Last year, I fed them 20-20-20 all year-round and only 2 of them flowered ... I have about 5-7 phals.

This year, I would like to provide them the proper care so they all bloom.

Question: What temperature should it be outside before I take them out to my porch again? I am thinking that the low temperature needs to be around 55-60 degrees before I take them out. Do you agree?

Thanks as always for your great help,
Angelo

Answer
Good to hear from you again Angelo. I would give bloom booster a try.  I think whether or not bloom booster actually facilitates bud initiation is controversial, but it con't hurt to give it a try. It certainly can inprove the color of the flowers.  You might try some supplemental lighting if you haven't tried it, while they are in the garage.  Yes, I would wait to put them out until the low temperature is 55 degrees or higher.
