QuestionMy plant, after flowering, in now producing baby plants with roots from 2 leave nodes. When and how should I propergate these. Thank you
AnswerAnn, thanks for your question. I recommend that you not separate these keikis from the old flower spike until they have at least two leaves that are at least 6-8 cm in length. You may then separate them with a bit of a twist at the point where they join the old flower spike. Be careful to not damage their roots. You may pot these up (either together or separately) in a plastic pot with lots of drainage holes. The pot should be large enough to insert the roots without damage but not excessively large. Repot using the finer parts of an orchid potting mix and keep the pots moist as the samller pots tend to dry out more quickly. You may insert the plastic pot into a slightly larger clay pot to reduce the rate at which the potting mix dries out.
