QuestionHi,
I have had an orchid for about 8mths and until recently it has had a lot of flowers with new blooms. Now all the flowers are falling off and just would like to know what I need to do now with it. Thanks
AnswerSarah, you need to repot your plant. Find a source for orchid potting mix. Most nurseries that carry orchids also have orchid potting mix. Once you have the orchid potting mix (fir bark based), soak it while you unpot your plant. Rinse the roots on your plant and remove any that have collapsed. Healthy orchid roots are firm and turn green when wet. Repot to a plastic pot that has plenty of drainage holes in the bottom. Lower the prepared plant into its new pot while rotating the pot-- this reduces root damage during repotting. Add the fresh orchid potting mix while tapping the side of the pot to distribute the orchid potting mix about the roots. Let drain overnight and place into its growing area. Do not water for at least a week.
