repotting moth orchid

Question
First, I must say thank you so much for answering all my previous questions so throughly.
I am trying to repot my moth orchid and I was told to use medium size bark and possibly try to replant in a slightly larger size plastic pot with holes.
My orchid has roots growing crazy out of the top and sides and i think it might need a little more room. what do you think? and do you know where i could purchase a slightly larger plastic container?
None of my local shops have them only the ceramic pot which i dont need.
Any more tips on repotting? how do i put those roots down into the new bark?
Thank you,amanda

Answer
You're welcome Amanda.  As for repottig supplies, you can order from a website Charleysgreenhouse.com.  They have a lot of different types of plastic orchid pots (I recommend the clear ones)and, while you are at it, get some of the orchid potting medium they sell. An orchid potting mix contains more than just fir bark but a lot of other ingredients to promote orchid root health. It is recommended that orchids be repotted after each flowering, so you will want to get enough orchid potting mix for several repottings. You can find other orchid supplies from a variety of vendors by googling The Orchid Mall

On the matter of aerial roots, you will need to soak the plant's roots until they turn green.  They then are less brittle and less inclined to break.  When you are ready to repot, rotate the pot while you are lowering the roots into the pot.  When they are all in the pot, add the potting mix and tap the sides of the pot from time to time to settle the potting mix about the roots
