Hi, my name is Peggy Ruth Carpenter, and being an expert on Orchids I was wondering (hoping) if you happened to know how the 'Morning Joy' Balleara got the name Peggy Ruth Carpenter. I was wondering because my grandmothers first name was Peggy and her middle name was Ruth, but it wasn't until she was married to my grandfather that her full name became Peggy Ruth Carpenter. The only other person I've known with this name is my younger cousin who was named after my grandmother (as was I, although it isn't my full name). So, all in all, I hoped you had some information on where the orchid got its name or who named it or something because I've tried searching for the answer and can't seem to find it anywhere. Can you help me?

Peggy, Beallara Peggy Ruth Carpenter was registered to Everglades Orchids in Belle Glade, Florida.  The owner is Milton Carpenter.  It is likely that he named it after his wife.  It has been a long time since I visited with the Carpenters, so you would need to confirm this.  Their phone number is (561) 996-9600.
