QuestionI have had a "pansy" orchid for about 1 year now. I just noticed what looks like a new flower spike starting (about an inch); however my toddler accidentally knocked it over and I think broke the very tip of the new flower spike off. Will it still continue to grow and bloom?? Thank you!!
AnswerKrissi, it is possible that if there are minute buds remaining below the break, these could produce flowers. Secondly, there is a slight possibility that the spike could branch below the break and flower from that branch. A more likely event, is that it could send up a new, second flower spike and bloom from that spike. Mature miltonias may often bloom from two or more spikes. Congratulations on growing your pansy for about a year and having it spike. It sounds like you are growing it well.
