QuestionQUESTION: My orchid plant recently got a yellow leaf with black round spot appearing in the leaf, Could you please suggest me how to overcome this and give some tips to help my orchid plant grow and get a new spike
ANSWER: Hello Raj,
I would love to try helping you but without knowing what kind of orchid you have makes it very difficult. There are well over 30,000 different orchid species plus 100,000 + hybrids of orchids so you can imagine picking your orchid correctly is impossible.
If there is a tag or lable with the orchid, could you send that information back to me? If there is nothing with the orchid, maybe you could describe what the orchid plant looks like along with what the flower looked like and how it grew.
Sorry I could not be of any help at this time.

QUESTION: Thanks for your prompt reply. I dont know what variety it is but I am attaching a picture which i took before and how it is now. Pls look into that and let me know. Thanks.
AnswerHello Raj,
Thanks for the photo. What you have is a phalaenopsis orchid plant.
From the photo, I'm afraid it does not look very good for it because it appears to have a lot of problems. While it might be possible to save it, it will take quite a bit of work by you to do so and even then it might not survive. My suggestion would be to put it in the trash and purchase a new one.
The major problems I see is that it appears the potting media has broken down and there probably are few if any live roots within the pot. Also, the leaves appear to have been scorched due to exposure to too much direct sunlight or possibly exposure to temperatures that were near 40F.
Sorry I could not be a more help, but hope this helped a little.
