growing dendrobiums on trees

Question
I recently rescued some bare rooted dendrobiums and would like to attach them to a tree.  In the past I took one out of it's pot and put some sphagnum moss in some netting around the roots and stapled the package to a tree.  I see that new roots have formed and have attached themselves to the bark, and a new plant has formed.  Can I do the same thing to the bare rooted ones?

Answer
Hello Susan,

Yes, you can attach the bare root dendrobiums the same way.  It would be a good idea to soak the roots in a pail of lukewarm water for 30 to 60 minutes prior to mounting them to the tree.

You did not mention where you live but it may be a good idea to not position them in direct summer sunlight.

Have fun!
