Questionjust got one it hangs about 2 feet i live in south florida and its hot what do u recomend in those climates when do they bloom we have no winter here please help ty
AnswerHello Tony,
Dendrobium parishii is a member of the deciduous family of dendrobium orchids. Living in south Florida, you will need to protect it from winter rains due to it going dormant prior to producing flowers. Also in Florida, grow it in bright shade with maybe several hours of direct morning sun with good air movement around it. Humidity should not be a problem.
Since you mentioned that it is hanging, is it being grown in a basket or a pot? If in a basket with little or no media and the roots exposed, you may have to water it daily from spring through fall. If in a pot with media, water it when the media becomes barely moist. Go easy with any fertilizer as dendrobiums do not require lots of it to grow and bloom.
Hope this has helped.
