QuestionHello Wayne,
I recently left a bunch of my Phalaenopsis in direct sunlight and several have lost all of their leaves. Could they live?
Thanks,
Nate
AnswerNate, it is possible that the plant will grow new leaves as long as the growing point (ie point fron which leaves originate) has not rotted away. I recommend that you obtain some orchid potting mix and plastic pots with lots of air holes in the bottom. While you unpot your plants, soak the fresh orchid potting mix, rinse off the plant roots and remove any that are mushy. When you repot your plant in the fresh orchid potting mix, be sure the crown (place where leaves originate)is an inch or two above the surface of the potting mix. It could take a month or two to generate new leaves. If you don't see any new growth within three months, you can assume that the growing point has been destroyed and you will not be able to bring the plant back. Keep the repotted plants in an east window where they can get the morning sun. Avoid sunlight during the brightest part of the day. Water once per week.
