QuestionI have a couple of oncidiums that I have had for many years. They get lots of new growth, but a flower stalk never emerges, only new psuduobulbs. I water every 7-10 days and fertilize. One plant is in a south window, another in north window. My theory now is to put it outside with cooler temps and ignore it for a while to see if that helps. Any advice would be appreciated.
AnswerScott, I agree that Oncidiums should be summered out where they can get the breezes, increased light and humidity. Once outside, increase the light level gradually. I have several oncidiums in full sun but you may not be able to achieve that as it takes a month or more to aclimate them to that light level. You didn't mention repotting. That might not be needed if each new growth is as large or larger than the previous growth. If not, you need to repot.
