growing orchids. The other day is was so hot that my orchid leaves got burn and
started to rot, and the flowers withered away is my orchid dead ? if not how can
i re grow it? and can i cut the rotten leaves off the orchid?
AnswerHi Tricia,
You didn't say what kind of orchids you have, which makes it hard to tell you what to do.
Although a leaf may be sunburned, it usually is not fatal to the rest of the orchid plant unless the entire plant was sitting in direct hot sunlight. It may be that only the top surface of the leaf shows sunburn and the underside might be okay. If this is the case, I'd suggest leaving it alone unless seeing it really bothers you, if it does, cut off the sunburned part leaving the rest of the leaf.
Unfortunately, most orchids produce flowers once a year so you will have to be patient until next year.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help at this time.
