QuestionMy fault - I overwatered, plant sat in water. Flowers all fell off. Any hope of recovery?
AnswerHello Lanifm,
You didn't mention what kind of orchid you overwatered. But I'll try to give you some general guidance on things you can do to try and save what ever it is.
If the orchid plant appears to be in distress with leaves becoming droopy, immediate action is needed. Remove it from the pot and clean off the potting mix from the roots. Set the mix aside to dry out a little, possibly in a sunny spot. Check the roots and remove any that are soft and mushy as they are dead. Cut off what is left of the flower spike about an inch or two from the spike bottom. Clean the old pot. Place about an inch of mix in the pot then lower the orchid in so it is about centered and the lowest growth is even with the pot. Place mix in and around the roots and when full, gently press down to slighty compress it. Water it, allow excess to drain then place it in a warm shady place for several weeks after which you can put it back where you had it before.
Hope this helped.
