brassia christine rex

Question
Looks like rot spot on one of the bulbs anything I can do to fix and not have this happen again???

Answer
In order to avoid having the infection spread, I would advise cutting out the rotted portion of the bulb.  Cut away until you see clean tissue and seal the resulting wound by smearing it with powdered sulphur to prevent reinfecting the wound. There are many ways that rot can develop.  Sometimes a minor tissue injury can open the way to fungus or bacterial infection. Old potting mix, which retains too much moisture will ofgten lead to this condition as well.  If the plant has not been repotted in the past year using a standard orchid potting mix, I recommend that this be done at the time you see new growth emerging.

Incidentally, the plant should be named Brassia Rex 'Chritine'.  Rex is the name of the hybrid and Christine is the particular clone.
