Caring a Paphiopedilum parishii

Question
I bought my Paph.parishii a week ago. It look fine but I don't know how to care it to flower like my other orchids and also I don't know the month when such orchid usually bloom. I also wish to know how to fertilize it and how to propagate it. If you could answer all about what I wanted to know, please answer me in full detail about how to care my Paph.

Answer
Hello Francis,

Paph. parishii usually bloom in mid to late winter.  They love moisture while actively growing so keep it moist but not constantly wet from spring through summer.  Grow it in bright indirect sunlight, temperatures between 55F to 85F, humidity above 50% with light air movement.  From mid fall through winter, reduce watering by allowing the potting media to become barely moist between waterings.  Propagation is done via division when it has grown several new growths.

Paphs. need good quality water to grow and bloom well, so if your water is considered hard (high in sodium and calcium), you may want to use bottled water.  A tell tale sign of hard water would be that the leaf tips will start to turn brown and slowly progress down the entire leaf.

Paphs. grow best when repotted annually as they can be finicky about the condition of the potting media as it slowly breaks down.

Hope this answered most of your questions.
