QuestionI have several keikis growing at the base of my blue vanda orchid.
Can these be separated? and if so, how do I cut them off and how large do they have to be to do so?
Please advise.
Thanks
Jack
AnswerJack, they can be separated if they have new root growth. I recommend that they have at least four to five leaves. I assume you want to pot these up as new plants. If so, use the same potting mix and growing environment as the mother plant. You should cut them off right where they join the mother plant, being careful not to damage roots in the process. You may want to consider removing only the largest and repotting it and see how well it does. That will give you increased confidence for taking keikis in the future.
