orchid flowers are falling

Question
my Orchid's flowers are falling off and leaves are turning orange, It was just bought for me and I want to save it.

Answer
Colleen, you didn't mention what type of orchid you have.  It could make a difference in my response.  I'm going to assume that it is a phalaenopsis orchid which is the most common type.  When receiving an orchid in bloom there usually is no way to know how long it has been in flower or how near it is to the end of its flowering cycle so loss of the flowers could be natural.  There is another possibility and that is that the plant was subjected to cold temperature which could not only explain the flower drop, but also the leaf coloration.

I recommend that you repot the plant in fresh orchid potting mix.  After obtaining a bag of orchid potting mix, unpot your plant, discard the old potting mix and carefully clean the roots, removing any mushy roots. The healthy, firm roots can be placed in a clean pot and slowly add the fresh potting mix until the roots are covered.  Then water the new mix thoroughly and place the plant in an east window or under plant lights.  Water weekly and, once you have new growth, you may begin feeding it weakly weekly (1/4 tsp of plant food per gallon of water).  On its way to recovery, the old flower spike may die back or may develop new branches-- depending upon its genetics.
