QuestionI have a phal. that has finished blooming a while back, now it has grown a keike but now the stem is starting to dry out and turn yellow from the top. the keike has about 2 roots that are about an inch each. should I repot the keike before the drying of the stem reaches the keike? or leave it? and also, if i do repot the keike, should all the roots be covered with the bark? thank you.
AnswerHello Melody,
I would wait to do any thing for now. If you want to do some thing, cut off the stem about an inch above the keiki, it won't harm it. It is not unusual for a stem to start dying back from the top, slowly going down then stopping just short of the keiki.
Once the keiki has roots over 2 inches long, you can remove it an put it in a small 3 inch pot of its own. Place all of the roots within the pot.
