QuestionMy Mothers day orchid has bloomed all this time, now the blooms are dropping off. what do i do next? Trim ? water?
ai would to go on and have it bloom again .
AnswerThe most important thing to do at this point is to repot the plant in fresh orchid potting mix. After obtaining a small bag of orchid potting mix, remove the plant from its pot and wash all old potting mix from the roots. Remove any roots that are "mushy" as they are dead and contribute nothing to the plant's growth. Then repot it to a plastic pot with the fresh orchid potting mix. These plants should be repotted annually after flowering. You may also remove the old flower spike if you wish. The plant will flower again next spring with a new flower spike from the base of the plant. Once repotted you may resume your normal watering schedule.
