QuestionHello - I found a flower wich looks like a lady slipper = but was told it was not and is rare look alike that blooms once every seven years - would you happen to know the name of such a look alike so I can look it up and see if I was informed correctly - thank you
AnswerIt is next to impossible to hazzard a reasonable guess without knowing where you are located, the color and size of the look alike, and what the flower looks like. Superficially, there are many flowers that, in some ways, resemble orchid flowers. To list a few, the pitcher plant when in flower (white flowers) in marshy areas and the many epiphyllums (also called orchid cactus) which range in color from white to pink. Some of our native north American orchids do not bloom every year and there are likely other look alikes that I'm not aware of.
