QuestionI got a white phal and it has been doing well for the last few weeks. I've noticed these yellow green spots that have formed on it's petals. They're no bigger than a a tip of a small marker. But some petals look a little dissolved with this light yellowy green stuff. What is it and how can I get rid of it if it is a problem. The blooms are still full and the plant looks healthy otherwise. Thanks.
AnswerHello Michelle,
While I cannot be certain what the yellow green spots on the petals is, my guess is that it might be a fungus infection. Be careful and remove the affected flowers without breaking open the spots, you don't want to spread the fungus to the other blooms.
This fungus can appear when the growing environment is cool with high humidity along with little or no air movement around the orchid. Fortunately, this is not usually fatal to the orchid if you stay on top of any new appearances.
Hope this helps save your phalaenopsis.
