QuestionI live in Tulsa, OK. I received a paphio "pinocchio"for my b-day, 5 years ago. It was blooming at the time for 8 months, just one after the other. Since that time, nothing! It's growing leaves even little babies on the side but not flowering anything. I just checked the root system and I find it kind of weak.... what should I do to optimize my roots system and the flowering?
AnswerThe new growths are small due to a loss of root mass. Pull it out of its pot and remove any "mushy" roots. You need to repot it in the smallest plastic pot you can find into which it will fit. Use a fine fir bark type of mix. It will not re-flower until you can bring it back to health and obtain an increase in plant size. Mist the plant each morning after repotting until you see new growth and then you can resume watering.
