QuestionI live in SW Florida and my Vandas used to have green tipped roots, but they have turned brown. Does this mean they are having problems and if so, what could be the cause?
Thank you!
Lisa
AnswerIf you grow them outside they may have gotten too cool during some nights. On the other hand, vandas do have a rest period and, during that part of their cycle, the roots go into dormancy. If there is no root fungus, they should start to regrow as the humidiy and warmth increase. If there is no new root growth by June, I would try emersing the plant in a fungicide solution at one week intervals for several weeks.
