QuestionAloha, Jim! Thank you for your response recently. I find that my little "babies" are still surviving, so far! Put them out in the morning sun, put them on the balcony to enjoy the fresh air and shade for the day and through part of the cool nite, then put them in the basement with windows open. How good can it be?!
Yes, I am thinking of tying a few cyms to the juniper trees after they grow hardy. My honohonos hanging from the junipers are just fragrant right now!
Sorry I wasn't clear about where I had bought the cym bulbs. It was on Oahu at the beginning of March. When I bought cyms in the Volcano area on the Big Island, they were cut flowers that I utterly could not resist buying. My sister on the Big Island got Mr. Harris' phone number for me, just in case I might want to ask him a question about cyms growing in the islands. Never met him, but I'm sure that all orchid people are friendly!
Been to Maui twice. Hope you and your family enjoy your trip soon!
Aloha, Loretta
AnswerAloha Loretta,
Yes, some of the nicest people grow orchids. Isn't that why you love to grow them? (grin)
Looking forward to going back to Maui, it's been almost 15 years since the last time. Heard that the road to Hana has been repaved! What a shame! I was looking forward to driving it but hear it is not the same.
Aloha, Jim.
