QuestionHi,
I have no label on the orchid, but it has long dark green leaves that branch out on either side only. The deep purple flowers were on a stem that I cut back when they died off two months ago. It is an incredible looking plant as the routes are permanently exposed in the vase. I have now removed the lower leaves that were falling off and re-positioned it in the sun. Would you recommend watering?

AnswerHi Carole,
Don't want to seem like I'm evading your question, but if you could tell me a little more about what your orchid looks like, I might be able to tell you what it might be and how to care for it.
Are the leaves narrow or wide? What is the shape of the leaves: round, oval or pointy? Is there a bulb or no bulb or maybe a fattened or skinny stem at the base of the leaves? If there is a stem at the base of the leaves, is the stem long or short?
Sorry for asking so many questions but there are quite a few orchids with long leaves and depending upon how much sunlight they receive, the leaf color can be from dark to light green.
I have a few suspicions as to what type of orchid you have but with a little more information I hope to narrow it down.
In the mean time, you can try watering it but don't over do it as overwatering is one of the major causes for orchid death.
