QuestionHi
My dog chewed the stems of my lovely flowering orchid the other day and I am not sure what I should do now. The base of the plant has not been touched and is still firmly in its pot. He has just chewed each of the three stems in the middle so that the flowers were severed from the plant. Is it still a viable plant? Should I be doing anything special with it to ensure it will reflower?
Thanks very much for your assistance.
AnswerYour plant should be fine provided it suffers no more damage. If it is otherwise healthy, you should see new growth emerge at the start of its new growing season. I would not water it much, if at all, and withold plant food until new growth starts to appear.
