new at this , any advice on what to do about this ripped leaf?

Depends upon how the leaf is ripped.  Sometimes the leaf will tear in the midline of the leaf.  If this is the case, you can just leave it as is,or, if you feel this is unsightly, you may cut it off at the base of the tear using a sharp razor blade.  If the tear is across the leaf, you can do the same.  Try to shape the tip of the leaf with your cut so it looks natural.  The cut will heal. Hopefully you have other leaves on the plant to support future growth.
