QuestionHi!
I was wondering if you could give me ID on this plant:

It was found growing wild in East Gippsland, Victoria Australia. Would very much appreciate any identification.
THanks!
Peter
AnswerI can't be certain of the species. It might help to have a picture of the vegetative part of the plant, height of the flower spike, whether it is branching or not, etc. There are several species of the Genus Dipodium, referred to as the Hyacinth Orchid that have similar flowers. The species Dipodium punctatum is native to eastern Australia and has a leafless stem up to 1.5 m high, carrying a raceme of up to 60 flowers that are 1-3.1 cm across.
