QuestionHi Wayne,
Should I cut off the stem once the actual flower has died?
Thanks,
Patty
AnswerI assume that by the stem you mean the flower spike from which the flower emerges. Depending on the type of orchid, and parentage, some of these old flower spikes remain green and are capable of reflowering. If, however, the flower spike begins to die back and turn brown, you should remove it from the main body of the plant.
