AnswerHi Cindy,
Thanx for the additional information. I'm not a real rose expert but this much I do know. You'll have to ensure the "trunk" of the rose tree is protected during the Zone 5 winter. The best way to do this is to build a cage of mesh wire around the 'trunk' of the rose tree and fill the cage with mulch or stuff it with leaves. You can also wrap burlap gently around the 'trunk' securing it at the bottom of the plant with wire to keep it anchored to the ground so the burlap doesn't unravel and flap in the wind. Secure at the top with duct tape. Remove all of this protection in the spring after the last hard frost. Some minor frosts shouldn't hurt the plant.
I hope this helps.
