QuestionI have a beautiful bush that is about 10 years old, has a very shiny leaf, and blooms outdoors around this time every year(snow or not).
It looks like a gardenia, is pink, and the wild turkeys love to eat the buds!
I am in the Plymouth,MA area.
Any ideas ?
AnswerHi Robena,
Thanx for your question. It sounds like a rhododendron, which can be very common in the northeast as a landscape plant.

Take a look at the two links I sent you for pictures of leaves and flowers of the rhododendron. Your flower may be a double which will have a more gardenia-like look.
I hope this helps.

Hi Robena,
All begonias are perennial, they are just tender perennials and some are treated as annuals that are grown outdoors in most of the United States and Canada. Begonias are natives of Central and South America, Africa and South Asia with one member in Hawai'i. So, what you have is not a begonia. It would not be able to survive the winter in your area. Hmmmm. Can you send me a pic of it? Thanx! Tom
