QuestionI am trying to hide an unsightly boundary fence. How close should I plant the zebra grass to the fence? And how close together should they be for maximum hiding ability?
AnswerHi Barbara,
Thanx for your question. I'm not a landscape expert by any means. But, I'll give this a shot. Based on the following data, Zebra Grass Grows 4-7' tall, with a 3-5' spread. I would plant each clump of zebra grass at least 3 feet away from the fence and leave about 3 feet between each clump. It won't take it long to spread out. Remember to trim it down in the late fall after it has gone dormant and turned yellow. Chop it down to about 6 inches above the ground. This helps rejuvenate it for the next season and cuts down on the opportunities for pests and disease. I hope this helps.
