QuestionIs it possible to winterize begonia tubers wrapped in a paper bag and putting them in the vegetable crisper of the refridgerator? And if so, how long should they remain there? I'd really rather prefer just growing them inside for all seasons without winterizing them. Is that possible?
AnswerHi David,
Thanx for your question. I don't normall keep begonias over the winter. I think I tried a couple of times and the tubers dried up. But, here is some information from the American Begonia Society you may find helpful.

Depending upon what type of begonias you have, I do know they need some down time in the winter when they stop blooming which helps them rejuvenate for the next year. Place the plants in hanging basket or pots and water them once a week to keep them from drying out. Do not feed them or over water. Place them in a window where they will get full sun. Over the course of the winter, they're going to get rather ungainly and not look very good. Once the spring comes and temps are warm enough you can ease them back outdoors by placing them in the shade for 7 days and then you should be able to pot them or hang them in the desired locations outdoors. I hope this helps.
