Question
Prenennial Flower
Do you know the name of the attached flowers? Also, it has pods on the stem's...are these seeds and can I plant them for more flowers.
Appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks, Kathy
AnswerHi Kathy,
Thanx for your question. The plant in the photo is butterfly weed (Aesclepius tuberosa). The pods you describe are seed pods. The seeds germinate easily when lightly covered with soil and kept moist and warm. Germination takes place in about 2 weeks or more and the seeds can be started 6-8 weeks before the last frost indoors. May not bloom the first year as many perennials do not. Here's a link from Missouri Botanical Gardens. I hope this helps.
