QuestionOne of my Stella do Oro Lily plants has sent out many runners and new plants that are taking over my garden. Are there different varieties of the lily or was this one just a fluke? Thank you.
AnswerHi Kay,
Thanx for your question. A Stella D'Oro day lily should only increase by a couple plants per year and then require separating after 3-4 years. It sounds to me like you have something else growing in there. Stellas don't send out runners. They reproduce by increasing the rhizomes or the fleshy roots below ground. A new fan will develop from a new rhizome and they separate easily. They should not be taking over anything and there definitely shouldn't be runners. I think you have something else growing in there.
I hope this helps.
