Snapdragons

Question
I live in S. Texas (near Houston) in a patio home so have small growing area. Planted two beds of snaps last fall. They bloomed beautifully in winter, again in early spring, and are just now giving up. We have deer, and they have been spared. I'd like to brighten my beds with periwinkles (also deer resistant), but wonder if I should leave the snaps. Will they come back in the Fall? I have both dwarf and regular size.

Answer
Hi Bett,
Thanx for your question and sorry I was late in answering.  Snapdragons are perennials in your area (as long as they don't get frost) but grown as annuals in the north.  They should come back as they can get stressed from Texas heat and should continue to come back through reseeding and because of their perennial nature as long as there is not a hard frost on them.  I hope this helps.
Tom
