Question
Wildflower
Hello,
Would you know the name of this wildflower. I live in St. Augustine, Florida and they are along the roadside in our community. They are purple in color and only seem to bloom
during the day and close at night.
Thank you
AnswerHi Linda,
Thanx for your question. This plant looks like spiderwort, Tradescantia ohiensis. Be careful, this plant can become a pest. Personally, I detest it. Once it gets in the garden, it's hard to get rid of. They can come in purple, blue, white and a lavender. They are pretty but they just get into everything. Here is a link to the Missouri Botanical Gardens that may be helpful.
I hope this helps.
Tom
