QuestionI have a rosemary plant approx 4 years old in my small herb plot. I want to keep it fairly small due to space limitations, but can't remember when it should be pruned or cut back. Is this time of year (March) OK to cut it back or prune it? Thanks a lot.
AnswerHello Patricia,
Early spring is the ideal time to prune your rosemary (you want to avoid pruning when the plant is going into dormancy). The other good times are (at least) 45 days before frost, or times when the plant is not flowering. But early spring in your zone is the best.
And, by the way, congratulations on having a four year old plant! Not many people can manage to keep them alive for a year. You must be a terrific gardener.
