QuestionHello!
I live in Parker, south of Denver in Colorado. I would like to trim my honeysuckle because this year it had few leaves and few flowers, it was all sticks.
When should I trim it and do you have any other suggestions?
The plant is 10 years old!
Thank you for your time!!!

AnswerHi Caliopi,
Thanx for your question. It may do your honeysuckle well to be trimmed all the way down close to the ground to generate new growth. You can do it now, which is an excellent time of year for pruning back this vine. Also, make sure the vine is in full sun. Have some trees or shrubs grown around it to cause it to be shaded? Not enough sunlight will reduce blooming. Fertilizers high in nitrogen, such as lawn fertilizers will reduce blooming. I would just use a side dressing of well-composted cow manure if you think you need to feed the plant but it's not picky about soils. I hope this helps.
