QuestionI need to know how to prune our holly bushes, what shape,how high should they be. They produce berries in the late fall and I understand that would be the ideal time to prune, but how do I shape the bush when I'm pruning to get the desired effect? For example: If I want a bushy bush, how do I trim it?
As of now they are tall, sparse, with limbs growing every direction (haven't been touched in years). HELP! Sorry, I don't have a pic to show you.

Thanx for your question. I found a nice article on pruning English hollies in Fine Gardening. The link is attached below. A general rule is to prune right after blooming or in the case of hollies in the spring. The more severe one prunes, the less the production of berries. I hope this helps.
