Question
foxglove
I live in Mo., and have several foxglove in my yard. They were doing great, but after all the rain and hot weather, the stalks looks "spent", like the blooms, but not dead. How can I revitalize them?
AnswerHi Shannon,
Thanx for your question. Perennial foxglove will start some new growth around the crown of the plant closest to the ground. It looks like this particular plant (thanx for the pic) is done blooming. I'd cut off the stalk.
If this is a biennial (which most foxgloves are) foxglove, it's done blooming and will hopefully reseed itself or you can save some of the tiny black seeds and seed yourself otherwise a biennial plant is done. It spends the first year growing green growth and the second year making flowers and seeds and then it dies like an annual.
I hope this helps.
Tom
