QuestionI have two allium(sp?)k826v flowers that I planted last year, which bloomed beautifully. This year the stems are real slender and won't support the flowers, which is a little small. What can I do or What have I done? Thank You.
AnswerHi Ann,
Thanx for your question. Alliums benefit from fertilizers that are higher in phosphorus and potassium. This helps with root/bulb building and flowering as opposed to higher nitrogen which benefits green growth. If you live in an area with acidic soil this might be doing it to. I recommend you apply some well-composted manure around your plants in the spring and in mid-summer. You can find well-composted manure in bags at nurseries and DIYs. I hope this helps.
