QuestionNeed to ID this plant
QUESTION: My husband's grandparents have this beautiful flower at their house in Ark City, KS. I would love to purchase one for my home, but have been unable to identify what it is. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!
ANSWER: Hi Marci,
Thanx for your question. This looks like Crinum lineare, a native of South Africa or some other form of the Crinum genus which are lilies of the Amaryllis family that are generally not hardy in Kansas. Is this plant being grown in a pot? Would it be possible to see a picture of the stalk and leaves?
thx,
Tom

QUESTION: No, the plant was not in a pot, but rather in flower bed near the south side foundation of the home. The area of KS is just a couple of miles from Oklahoma. I will check my photos later to see if I took any that would include the stalk and leaves. Thanks for your help.
AnswerHi Marci,
Thanx for the additional information. It would really help if I could see the entire plant. If it's not a crinum then it is most like either an Asiatic or Oriental lily or some type of amaryllid that is hardy in the north. An example of that would be what we call Naked Ladies or Resurrection Lilies which normally bloom in August but have no foliage. The foliage of those plants is visible now and then disappears with the summer heat. I look forward to seeing more pix.
thx,
Tom
