QuestionI have a wisteria plant that we purchased 2 years ago. It grows wonderfully and has many shoots travelling along a fence but has never flowered. Any suggestions on why. I live in British Columbia, Canada.
AnswerHi Lorraine,
Thanx for your question. It may take 3 or more years for a wisteria to begin blooming once it has been purchased and then planted. Be careful not to use fertilizers that are high in nitrogen or all you'll get is green growth. If you use lawn chemicals be careful about the high nitrogen lawn fertilizers seeping into flower beds. Control the growth so that the vine isn't growing all over the place. Here is a link that demonstrates how to control the leaders. This is from Ohio State University and I think it is very helpful. I hope this helps.
