AnswerHi Huria,
Thanx for your question. Cape honeysuckle, Tecoma capensis is not hardy to your Zone 8, Dallas environment. The plant is hardy to USDA Hardiness Zones 9-11. Grow it as a potted plant and bring it indoors in the fall before the first frost. The shrubs can get big so you will have to train it by keeping it pruned in order to keep it in a pot. The plant is native to South Africa and so it has average water requirements. In your hot Texas sun and growing in a pot will require more water than normal. Check daily for watering needs. This plant requires full sun. Use composted manure to feed in the spring and mid-summer. I hope this helps.
