QuestionI have an endless summer hydrangea that has come out beautifully this spring. However, several of the buds have turned black, and I don't think they will bloom. Can you tell me what this is, and the treatment for it. Thanks for any info you can give me.

AnswerHello Lois
As the plant is generally healthy looking, this sounds like a case of 'dry bud'. This can happens if there is a period of dry weather during the period when the buds are forming - but don't worry, it will not kill, or even seriously affect, the plant.
Hydrangeas like to have very moist roots, so water your plant well during dry spells and spread a deep mulch around the root area to minimize moisture loss by evaporation.
