QuestionDo you remove the seed pods from the yellow Japanese lily? I think that is what it is at the end of the new stems instead of blooms. I have all these new stems and no flowers, just these sectional pod looking things. It bloomed last year a wonderful yellow...I named it Gabriel. Thank you so much, Sheila
AnswerHi Sheila,
Thanx for your question. There are two plants that have the name Japanese lily of which I know.
Lilium speciosum and Rohdea japonica. Do you know which one you have?
Let me know. Rohdea japonica has seed pods that look like yellow or orange berries. I would remove the pod so it doesn't take energy away from the plant. Now, if you have what appear to be pods at the end of y our stems, these are most likely bloom buds that are getting ready to open. I would not pluck those off. Please give me a description of your plant.
thx,
Tom
