Lacecap Hydrangea

Question
I am in the Seattle, Washington area.  We had a very cold December and then an unusually warm Jan & Feb with temps reaching into the 60s.  In March the weather turned cold again with a few nights close to freezing.  My Lacecap Hydrangea came up looking great, bright green leaves and nice buds. Now the tips of the leaves are dry, brown and curling and the buds look dried.  Is this weather related or some disease?

Answer
Hi Linda,
Thanx for your question.  Sorry to get back so late to you.  I have been on vacation and forgot to put myself in vacation-mode.  You may have some weather damage to your lacecaps if the buds are dried and curling.   This happens to hydrangeas frequently.  The rest of the plant looks fine but the flower buds are damaged by cold snaps.

Here is a link to a great hydrangea site I think you'll find helpful.

I hope this  helps.
